Prepare yourself – create a moving checklist:

Considered as one of the most stressful things you can do – removal could be very traumatic. Save your nerves and time using some helpful tips. The most important and the first thing you should do is to create a moving checklist. Everything starts from this point. Some people underestimate its value, but those who have already been in such situation know how important is to systematize your ideas. Create a plan to manage your tasks easier. Here are some simple steps that can help you:
  • Pick a date
Mapping out your moving time is the key to avoid the pressure. Knowing the exact moment of the removal gives you the advantage to plan each step. When you choose a day that suits you consider the fact that bank holidays and Fridays are not the perfect dates. An off-peak time such as mid-weak is very appropriate.
  • Decide what you can get rid off
Now is the best time to throw some of the useless items. People store up a lot of things that they don’t need and never use. Now is the perfect moment to decide what you want to keep and what is unnecessary. You could sell any goods that are in good condition. Start from the closets; get rid of clothes that no longer fit you or you do not want to wear anymore. You can donate them. Continue with the rooms- furniture and devices that you don’t need can make a change on your budget.
  • Search for a moving company
There are lots of companies that offer such services but to be anxiety- free make a little investigation. Ask friends and colleagues, have a look online, choose the best option (considering area, taxes etc.). Do not forget that the insurance is very important. Research what it covers and if there are exclusions.
You can do your move not only by using removal companies. There are other options such as man with a van or only a van. It is considered to be cheaper than the previous but perhaps is not that safe.
  • Prepare for packing
Go shopping for supplies that you will need for packing such as boxes, tape, permanent markers, and specialty containers (like dish barrels and wardrobe boxes). To avoid having to rush in the last moment order them in advance.
  • Creating a packing plan
Decide from which room you should start packing – probably this is the least- used area in your place. And continue that way. Put everything in order and write labels on the boxes this will help you to keep your inventory; and also it will be easier when you unpacked to know to which room belong the boxes. While you pack make sure that you note items of special value and those which you’ll need immediately after removal. There will be some things that you will need till the last night. Make a list not to forget them in the rush on the next day.
